Now, the most interesting mystery is considered the gravitational anomaly, which is located in the Wilkes region of Earth. When a NASA satellite flew over the area in 2002, it registered a strange pulse. It came from the space under the ice, with a diameter of about 500 kilometers.
A scientific group led by Prof. Ralf von Frese in 2006 found a huge crater. At a depth of 850 meters, the probe that the scientists lowered came across an unknown dense mass, the width of which was about 300 kilometers. Experts suggest that there is a metal object inside the crater that emitted the strange pulse.
Scientists believe that beneath the kilometers of ice in Antarctica are the remains of a giant asteroid. But at the same time, it remains a mystery how the Earth remained intact after a collision with such an incredibly large object.
Other experts believe that there is definitely a space body in Antarctica, but so far there is no way to get to it to study. An expedition of this nature requires a lot of resources.
