However, this is not the first time that a phenomenon of this type has been seen in La Paz, in August of last year two people, Perla Abaroa and Gilberto Ortega, managed to record a similar situation off the coast of Baja California Sur.
Although it seems somewhat strange, even with an air of mystery, science ensures that it is only a “normal phenomenon”, very similar to a mirage, but when it occurs over the sea it seems that a city rises from the ocean.
According to science, this phenomenon is known as the Fata Morgana effect, which is produced due to a temperature inversion on the sea surface, which, while the separation between hot air (lighter) and fresh air is calm, cold (denser); they act as a refracting lens, causing objects on the horizon such as islets, rocks, ships, or something nearby to appear raised and elongated.
And what about the cities that appear in the sky? As well as the one that appeared in China.
